Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Version 19 [Win/Mac]
Illustrator is one of the best programs ever created for creating vector graphics. It is widely used for logos, as well as working with images for the web.
Illustrator features vector graphics that behave much like mathematical numbers. This means that Illustrator can adjust shapes and paths to any size, in any direction, without affecting other elements on the page.
Illustrator’s vector capabilities make it ideal for building vector icons, which are basically graphic images that can be scaled and moved without losing clarity. Because Photoshop’s transparency functions become blocked when used to manipulate vector graphics, Illustrator is especially useful for producing icons.
Adobe Illustrator integrates Photoshop to work with vector graphics. If you’ve used Photoshop, you can use Illustrator to build graphics for the web.

# Adding drawings to a photo
An image that has been manipulated in Photoshop or an illustration program can be imported into a sketch program, where it can then be built into a digital drawing or blueprint. If you have difficulty building images into a computer drawing, try this approach instead: Start with a sketch in a different program, such as a sketch program (which I discuss next), and import the photograph into the program. Using the drawing tools, draw over the image or add additional layers and colors to the photograph. When you’re finished, save the image to your computer, and then open it in Photoshop. The image is ready to import into your sketch program.

Update: (2020/06/28) – as of Photoshop Elements 2020, several features in the Photoshop “premium” editions have been moved into Elements. This guide will help you find the tools you used for these tasks when you purchased Photoshop, and will be updated once the list is fully moved over to Elements.
Elements vs Photoshop
Adobe’s Photoshop is the most popular consumer-level photo editing program in the world. The professional version comes in two versions, Photoshop Creative Cloud and Photoshop Lightroom. There are other applications also available that do similar things, such as Photoscape for Mac and iPhoto for the Mac. Photoshop Elements is a graphics editing tool for people who don’t need a fancy program, but want the convenience of a simple tool for easy editing and creating.
Elements has many of Photoshop’s features, but it is much easier to use. Element’s interface is much simpler and more similar to other applications that people are already familiar with. You can use Elements to edit both personal photos and graphic designs. This makes it especially good for photographers and graphic designers who want to use Photoshop Elements to create images for Instagram, Facebook, memes, and their websites.
Elements vs Photoshop for Photographers
Elements is more than capable of doing many of the basic functions that Photoshop was previously used for by photographers. It is especially designed for photographers, so you can find several features to edit your photos, including lightroom presets, curves, masks, filters and cloning tools. You can also find more advanced features to create new images, including paintbrushes, brushes and stamps.
Photoshop’s History and History Presets are almost completely missing from Elements. This is because Elements is primarily designed for photo and graphic editing and not for photo editing.
However, Elements is not a complete clone of Photoshop. Photoshop Elements is much smaller than Photoshop and does not have nearly as many features.
As a result, Photoshop Elements is a more economical choice for photographers. Even though Photoshop Elements does not have its own professional version, many of its features have been moved to the Professional version, making Photoshop Elements a good choice for most photographers.
What features are included in Photoshop Elements?
Probably the biggest reason to use Elements is that many of the features you may want to use in Photoshop are included in Elements. Some of the features available in Photoshop are the powerful History/History Presets and a non-destructive editing option for one of your images. These are

2. **Open an image you want to repair**.
The image in Figure 2-4 is saved as a JPEG file in Photoshop’s native format.
Figure 2-4: Bring the image you want to repair into Photoshop by clicking the Open button.
3. **Using the Rectangular Selection tool, drag in the lower-left section of the image (Figure 2-5)**.
You don’t need to drag completely down the image; just place the tool on the area you want to keep from the selection and drag. Make the selection as large as possible, but keep it small enough to keep the image in one file.
Figure 2-5: Drag the Rectangular Selection tool over the area you want to keep.
4. **Deselect (Ctrl+D)**.
Photoshop loses the selection when you drag.
Figure 2-6 shows the initial image before dragging the Rectangular Selection tool.
5. **Right-click the Rectangular Selection tool**.
You should see a shortcut menu that includes the word _Move_, as shown in Figure 2-7.
Figure 2-6: Begin dragging the Rectangular Selection tool to select the area you want to keep.
Figure 2-7: Right-click to access the Move shortcut menu.
6. **Move the mouse to the area that you want to keep (Figure 2-8)**.
You should see the icon change to the pair of scissors icon, or possibly a black dot. (You can also see a + icon, meaning that more space is available to the selection.)
7. **Drag the Rectangular Selection tool to create a rectangle**.
It’s best to drag diagonally, but you can use the mouse to create a single line if you have difficulty getting a continuous line, as shown in Figure 2-9.
When you see the black dot, you’ve reached the final limit of your movement. Continue dragging in the direction you want to move the selection. If you don’t get to the final point, simply drag the selection over the area you want to include in the selection.
For more on selecting areas, see Chapter 6.
8. **Using the Direct Selection tool (T), click the dots at the top and bottom of the image, and drag to the left and right**.
